Peter is a super-handsome 1-2 year old pitbull mix, neutered and up to date on shots. He is an awesome, awesome dog. His most distinguishable characteristic is that he is very vocal when he plays, (and sometimes when he sleeps). He has a big-growly mouth, but without a shred of aggression. If you can catch him, he might even give you his ball to throw in the yard. When he plays with you sometimes he tries to chew on your hand but he is so, so gentle - you can tell he REALLY wants to chew on you, but he knows he can't! It's very cute. I usually give him a toy when he starts this to re-focus his puppy attention to something he SHOULD be chewing on!
Peter is great with the dogs at my house - very submissive - he was also charged after by a bully miniature pinscher at my dad's house the other day and he ran away. My big dog, Bailey, has put him in line a few times and Peter has not challenged him once. He and my little pit bull, Minnie, they take turns - sometimes he is the boss and sometimes she is. Overall he is very cooperative and plays well with others. Seems to know his place very intuitively.
Peter was also amazing with my 7 year old niece. He let her put him in a wagon, climb on him, etc. We've learned that he likes to swim, and he got on the floating pier and on the boat without hesitation, so he's not really afraid of anything. He is also fantastic off leash. He goes nowhere. If he walks too far away and you call him, he turns around immediately. He really just wants to hang out with his people. Not interested in much else.
Peter sleeps through the night (prefers the bed but will sleep in crate with little to no protest) - hasn't peed in house once, hasn't destroyed
anything but his tennis balls. He is freakishly good for a stray dog. I am still shocked at his amazing demeanor. The sweetest thing to see was when he started wagging his tail this week. I hadn't seen him wag his tail at all until he'd been with me for 2-3 days. He must have been pretty lonely :)
